Judy Adamson, our Deputy Church Warden, had the inspiration to lead us into the “love in a shoebox” culture. In this area, and I am sure in many others, people have realised that in parts of the world children don’t have the advantages of children in countries such as ours. Many communities are harassed by fighting and by the lack of things which are taken for granted in countries such as ours. Some people have taken it upon themselves to oreganise collections and to provide transport for small things for the benefit especially of children in such communities who otherwise would have nothing at this christmas time of giving. And that is “love in a shoebox”. Judy asked the people of our church and parish to make up a shoebox containing small things for either girls or boys. This scheme began in our parish in 2006 and every year since we have carried on this tradition. In this our FOURTH year we have provided once again more than 50 shoe boxes for youngsters who otherwise would have nothing.
We ask people to make up shoeboxes in accordance with the following guidelines:

We are hoping to send shoe boxes to children in Africa and Eastern Europe again this year.
If you would like to fill a shoe box, the following guidelines may help.
Suggested items
A colouring book, crayons, notebook, pens & pencils, chalk, skipping rope, ball, soap & facecloth, toothbrush toothpaste, comb, small first aid kit, new underwear, stocking fillers, puzzle or small toy (no batteries); you may like to send a card – please write in print & keep it simple.
Instructions
Please pack into a shoe box, do not seal, mark ‘Girl’ or ‘Boy’ together with age. The box can be wrapped in decorative paper, please ensure that the lid is wrapped separately.
Remember
Please do not pack chocolate, sweets or any food items, war toys, anything sharp or breakable.
