CHURCH AT KIRKBURN
THE “BURN”at KIRKBURN (continued)
before hand.  However, to date, all performers have been extremely professional, and it is amazing how much real talent there is locally.

Age is no barrier: there has been some delightful performance from local children as young as six, with 10 year old Thomas Appleton being a regular star and, at the other end of the scale, some performers being well into retirement.

All styles of music are welcome, and so far there has been pop, blues, rock, folk, old standards, classical and operatic music performed. There are usually lots of songs for the audience to sing along with, if they wish to.

There has also been a sprinkling of, mainly comic, poetry and monologues, to give those who do not sing an opportunity to perform too.

The logo of The Burn is Burney who is based on a character on the unique Norman font in St Mary’s church in Kirkburn. On the font, the man has a club over his shoulder, but as The Burn (taken from Kirkburn) is an ‘acoustic club’, Burney’s club is turned into a guitar.

The next meetings of ‘The Burn’ will be on Saturday 10th December at 7.30 p.m. and you are most welcome to attend. Entrance is only £1.50, with children free.
