SHIRLEY LEE’S POETRY
              PAGE
In winter time when it is damp and cold I remember the spring time flowers so bold,
as they burst through the ground without making a sound
The snowdrop gently nods its head as the sun gets out of bed
the crocus arrive to paint the scene where the snow had previously been
It won’t be long before the the glade will be coloured a different shade
as the daffodil announces its arrival - woe betide its nearest rival
For far widespread beneath the trees, carpets of yellow playfully tease
a  fresh encounter with the world, as lots of petals are unfurled.
Then  Mr. Blackbird with his song , sings his heart out, loud and strong,
joined by the orchestral choir,  a springtime melody does inspire.
the water gently caressed by the breeze carries the moor-hen with the greatest of ease
later on, at its own request, comes the mallard to build its nest
And so the scene is set again, with all the characters playing the game
the artist’s palette is put to the test when nature is working at its best
THE MAGIC OF NATURE
“Hello Parki” let’s have some fun
Do you think that you can try to let me have a run,
or are you going to shake and trip the light fantastic for a bit
For no matter how you try you’re not going to make me cry
for it’s my life you know  and one where you’re not allowed to go
You’re not welcome here, so take a hint and disappear
One day a drug will send you packing when it finds the defence you’re
                                                lacking
Until you find the hostile nest I promise I will do my best
to work hard and to ridicule and make you look the perfect fool
and I assure you  that in time, the last laugh raised
                                            shall be mine
         GOOD RIDDANCE
